Trust & Transparency
How we source, verify, and where we're honest about limits.
Where opportunities come from
The Shed curates publicly listed opportunities published by governments, universities, foundations, corporations, innovation ecosystems and investors across Africa. Every listing names its publishing organisation and links to the original source. We write our own short summaries — we never copy source text. Opportunities reach the feed through manual curation by our team, an automated daily search using AI with web search, and (coming soon) submissions from organisations themselves.
What verification means
- Curator-reviewed
- Found and checked directly by our team.
- Auto-discovered
- Found by AI-powered search and published without human review, shown with a "verify independently" label.
- Organisation-submitted
- Submitted by an organisation for review. Coming soon.
- Organisation-verified
- Submitted by a verified organisation. Coming soon.
Auto-discovered opportunities are not human-verified. Always check the original source before acting on any listing.
What The Shed IQ does and does not do
SHED IQ recommends opportunities based on your profile — your role, skills, sector, location, and what you've told us you need. Every recommendation shows its reasoning. It does not guarantee eligibility, acceptance, funding, or investment. It does not make decisions on your behalf. It does not share your profile with opportunity publishers without your action.
Your data
Your profile belongs to you. You control what's visible. You can update or correct your information at any time, and you can request deletion of your account. If you see something wrong — an inaccurate opportunity, a problematic profile, or a concern about how your data is being used — get in touch.
Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are working documents. We're a young organisation and we're getting these right. Read them, and tell us if something doesn't make sense.
